Secondary Sports

Achieving Their Sporting Potential

Our Secondary Sports program embodies the Christian ethos, fostering character development alongside skill acquisition for enhanced personal and team performance.

Students cultivate a strong sense of team, house, and college spirit, nurturing a long-term commitment to an active lifestyle. Through our program, students also develop expertise, equipping them to pursue representative sporting opportunities with confidence.

Focus Sports

The College has several key sports that are played after school and on weekends. These are known as the Focus sports and consist of: Basketball, Football and Volleyball.

All the Focus Sports offer students the opportunity to train as part of a squad and to take part in quality competition that is outside of normal school hours. Each focus sport is coordinated by a staff member and has a structured training program. These are the premiere teams of the College.

Carnival Sports

Each year, our College hosts swimming, cross country, and track and field carnivals, offering students opportunities to excel. These events build camaraderie as students cheer on their peers and strive for personal bests. They serve as goals for students striving to improve their skills and performance, blending fun with competitiveness. Following these carnivals, a 51СʪÃà team is formed to compete at the South District Trials and the CSSAQ Carnival.

Additionally, 51СʪÃà offers extra training opportunities for athletes. Our onsite Swimming Club provides coaching and regular racing, and swimmers seeking higher-level competition or additional training are encouraged to join. Also, the College offers top-level coaching for Cross Country and Track and Field, led by a Level 4 Athletics coach to deliver a high quality program.

Independent Schools Championship

The Independent School championship (ISC) is a new competition which includes 51СʪÃÃ, Redlands College, Brisbane Christian College and Moreton Bay Boys College.

This provides a highly focused competition, linked to culture building and shared ethos. It also elevates competition levels ahead of state championships and fosters community spirit and camaraderie.

The ISC competition includes A and B teams across all sports and is played on Wednesday afternoons from 2-4 pm, allowing for full length games. Parents are encouraged to attend after-school events whenever possible, to support and encourage our athletes.

Sports include volleyball, basketball, football, netball, futsal, touch, plus gala days for rugby 7s, beach volleyball, mountain bike racing, and tennis. ISC is about unity, competition, and community. So, let’s bring our sportsmanship and College spirit to the games.
